View The Great Global Warming Swindle - Produced by the BBC

After you see former Vice President Albert Gore Jr.'s "An Inconvenient Truth", how about viewing The Great Global Warming Swindle,
See link below
Produced by the BBC, and aired on Channel 4 in the UK in early

"The film does not dispute that the Earth is warming up, but takes the
position that this is nothing unusual. It also presents a credible
scientific analysis, by numerous credible scientists, which concludes
that there is no connection between this global warming and CO2
emissions from humanity in the civilized world. The pivotal point of their
analysis, as well as Gore’s, deals with the findings that were derived
from digging deep holes in the Arctic ice cap. These findings show, over
a 600,000 year time span, that there is a correlation between the
fluctuations in the Earth’s temperature and the levels of CO2 in the
atmosphere. Both sides are in agreement up to this point.

Gore’s scientists then conclude that this correlation must mean that the
levels of CO2 are the cause of the temperature fluctuations. This is
where the scientists in the BBC documentary say he misses the boat.
First of all, the fact that there is a correlation in this, or any, scientific
data does not mean there is causation. There might be, but not
necessarily. More proof is needed. Secondly, they claim Gore errs in
not looking more closely at this data, and other data. A closer
examination of these fluctuations shows that there is a time lag of a few
hundred years between the rises in the temperature and the CO2, with
the CO2 always lagging behind. Therefore, it is more reasonable to
conclude that the temperature fluctuations are actually the cause of the
CO2 fluctuations, just the opposite of the orthodox, Gore theory." by Jack Allis

Environmentalists and Poor Dying - Attacking DDT

See article by Steven Milloy DDT Backlash Begins and Sperm Counts JunkScience Apr07

“Last year, the WHO bravely moved to rectify one of the greatest tragedies in public health by lifting its DDT ban. The mosquito-killer has proven to be the most effective tool against malaria, a disease that annually kills 1 million children, sickens hundreds of millions and reduces economic development in poverty-stricken regions of the world.”

“Seven months after the World Health Organization reversed its deadly 30-year ban on the use of DDT to fight malaria, the anti-DDT movement is up to its old tricks.”

“South African medical researchers have reported alarming evidence of low sperm counts and other damage to the male reproductive system linked to the use of the pesticide DDT in anti-malaria spray campaigns,” reported the Mercury/Independent Online (South Africa) on April 12.

How to Defeat Suicide Bombers – Do Like Morocco

What you need is good intelligence and kill the bombers before they kill others. See April 15, 2007 New York Times Associated Press article “Suicide Bomber Brothers Attack in Casablanca”. The attack was about as best our allies could expect, at least three terrorists dead while ”wounding a woman”.

The key sentence from the article: “blew themselves up in Casablanca on Tuesday after being cornered by police. A police sniper shot and killed a fourth man who the authorities said appeared to be preparing to detonate a bomb.” How were the police able to corner the suicide bombers? The articlcle doesn’t say, but it would likely be the result of a tip, the police having a spy inside the organization that is the result of intelligence.

In Iraq, General David Petraeus surge anti-insurgency strategy is to have a presence among the those living in Baghdad providing security with the goal of getting tips and intelligence. Let us all root for our side prevailing with General Petraeus’s plan working and achieving victory over our enemies.

From the article:
■ “Morocco and Algeria ..have allied themselves with the United States in its fight against terrorism”
■ “the police arrested another three people — including one wearing an explosives belt”
■ “The attacks came just days after three people suspected of being militants blew themselves up as they were cornered by the police in Casablanca, and Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for suicide car bombings in neighboring Algeria that killed 33 people.”
■ “hideouts where explosive devices were put together also had been uncovered, along with the identities of the members of the group now being sought”

No Roads Through Parks - Support California AB 1457

AB 1457: A Crucial Opportunity to Protect California's State Parks for the Future

Background
California’s state park system – an essential investment in our future – is threatened by an array of road projects up and down the state.
Such roads are contrary to the historic, cultural, recreational and wildlife purposes for which the parks were created. For example, the Foothill toll road would ruin San Onofre State Beach in northern San Diego County. In response, Assemblymembers Huffman and Feuer have authored AB 1457, to create a consistent policy that protects state parks from such harm.

The Solution
AB 1457 ensures that no state or local governmental body will construct a road that will physically impact a state park or impair the recreational value of a state park. AB 1457 also provides for common sense exemptions. Specifically, it allows road projects to proceed as long the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation finds that:
* the project minimizes impacts;
* there are no feasible alternatives; and
* the road is necessary for use of the state park, for fire prevention, or for utilities on state park property.

The bill is supported by the California State Parks Foundation, the Sierra Club, and the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Action Requested
In time for upcoming hearings, please contact – by phone, mail, fax or email – the Chair and Vice Chair of the Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee, plus your own Assemblyperson (for whom you may use a "cc"). Please act by April 16th.

SAMPLE LETTER
April 9, 2007
The Hon. Lois Wolk, Chair
Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee State Capitol Sacramento, CA 95814
RE: AB 1457 (State Park Protection) - SUPPORT
Dear Chairperson Wolk:
I am writing in support of AB 1457, which prevents the construction of damaging roads through state parks.
California’s state park system contains some of the most unique natural, cultural and historical resources in the country. Throughout the system, residents have access to stunning landscapes and a myriad of outdoor recreational opportunities.
The mission of parks is to protect our state’s finest historic, cultural and biological assets. However, our parks are in jeopardy from roads that impair these irreplaceable values. Transportation thoroughfares through parks undermine the investment that has been made in creating and maintaining our state park system.
It is critical that policies are enacted that safeguard the state’s natural and recreational infrastructure. AB 1457 is a much-needed step toward ensuring the availability of parks for future generations.
Sincerely,
